Feeding Our Community Together

At LedgeEnd Farm, our mission is to provide fresh, healthful food to local families in need while preserving land, honoring dignity, and strengthening community connections. Rooted in a background of care and service, we focus on producing protein-rich eggs, meat, and, soon, produce that support both nourishment and well-being. Every animal, every harvest, and every partnership is guided by purpose, compassion, and the belief that access to real food should be a given, not a privilege.

Roots of Our Journey

Ledgend Farm was created with one clear purpose: to help minimize food insecurity in our community. With a background in nursing and a passion for nourishing children and families, our founder set out to grow high-quality, protein-rich foods that stay right here in Danbury.

What began as a land-conservation effort, preserving open space from becoming another condominium development, quickly grew into a mission-driven farm built to make a big impact, fast. Starting with laying hens and goats, LedgeEnd Farm focuses on producing fresh, nutrient-dense food for local families who need it most.

The name LedgeEnd comes from the rocky ledge found throughout Connecticut, solid, enduring, and rooted in place. Our goal is to build something that will become a legend for the future of local food access.

Commitment to Community

As a pediatric nurse, our founder saw firsthand how many families struggle to access nutritious, high-protein food, especially fresh eggs. What started as a small backyard flock quickly evolved into a way to supply high-quality eggs to children and families in need.

While traditional field farming was the original idea, the land’s heavy poison ivy cover made produce difficult to grow right away. Instead, the solution was already in motion: chickens for egg production and goats to naturally maintain the fields.

Our Nubian goats graze down grass and safely consume poison ivy, allowing the land to be restored without chemicals. Our Maremma livestock guardian dogs protect the herd and keep predators away; every animal plays a purposeful role.

Today the farm is home to more than 500 colorful egg-laying hens, producing beautiful brown and multicolored eggs that show families food doesn’t need to be white or processed to be healthy.

We proudly supply:

  • 350 dozen eggs each month to Hillside, and

  • 200 dozen each month to Daily Bread.

And as both pantries grow, our goal is to grow with them, eventually becoming their sole egg producer.
